The Robert Ludlam Theatre
The Robert Ludlam Theatre has a raised stage, with a proscenium arch.
The Auditorium in its standard format has a capacity of 196 seat.
The seats are raked with the front row being at floor level allowing access for customers with limited mobility. Seats may also be removed to give wheelchair access.
Hire includes
Hire of the theatre includes the use of the sound and lighting systems, 2 backstage dressing rooms and up to 2 microphones. A theatre technician will also be engaged for the duration of the letting to operate/ supervise use of the equipment. Additional staff and equipment can be added subject to requirement at additional cost.
Please note that the Robert Ludlam Theatre DO NOT supply front of House Staff. We ask all private hirers to supply a minimum of two front of house assistants; one must remain in the front of house area during the performance. The second may, if allocated a seat, remain in the auditorium. We also ask that you provide one first aider to remain in the auditorium during the performance in an accessible seat. (This may be the same person who acts as a front of house volunteer.)
The hirers front of house team are responsible for collecting ticket and attendance information. Tickets must be counted and attendance figures logged in accordance with RLT procedures.
Pricing
The theatre has a 2 tiered pricing structure the first rates are ‘Standard Rates’ allowing for get in / get out and rehearsal times. The second rates are ‘Performance Rates’ which apply for the time the audience are in the building- generally 30 minutes before the start of a performance until 15 minutes after the conclusion. Rates are sub divided into Monday – Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Box Office
For customers who wish to use our on-line box office via Ticketsource, there is a £10 administration fee for set up and post production services.
TicketSource allows your audience to select the seats of their choice and buy tickets on line 24 hours a day. Ticket source supply e-tickets, with an additional option to buy theatre style tickets, to be posted. Ticketsource is a holding company, income is released to the Robert Ludlam Theatre on completion of the performance run.
Alternatively, theatre hire clients may make their own arrangements for ticket sales. However, tickets must be sold to a seating plan, or maximum capacity, by prior agreement with the venue.
Refreshments
For hirers who wish to provide preshow and interval refreshments a small kitchen area, with serving hatch is available at a fee of £35 per show. The kitchen contains a hot water dispenser for drinks, however all consumables including cups and spoons must be provided by the hirer. Hirers are free to serve hot and cold drinks, sweets and light snacks such as crisps. However, sales of ALCOHOL are NOT PERMITTED in any format.
Bar Service
In certain circumstances we may be able to offer a staffed, licenced bar. Please ask about this at the time of enquiry. Please note there is a cover charge for this service.
