What is SEND and Inclusion?
As a school, we actively work towards meeting the rights and duties introduced by the SEN and Disabilities Act and pursue an approach based on ‘Inclusion’.
By this we seek to ensure the presence, participation and achievement of all pupils. We have achieved the Inclusion Quality Mark through our work with Derby City Council. Each department has an Inclusion Champion and all the champions meet regularly with the SEN and Inclusion Department to develop inclusion at the school.
The Special Needs and Inclusion Department is composed of six specialist areas working together to meet the needs of the pupils in the best way possible.
- Essential Skills
- Learning Support Assistants
- The Enhanced Resource Base
- The Nurture Den
- English as an Additional Language Base
- Gifted and Talented
